I've got the same problem. Just re-installed outlook 2007 and restored from
a .pst file. Is that the problem? Further, the instructions you refer to do not solve the problem. Help, I've
spent hours on this to no avail. "Jim Hermann" wrote: I've got the same problem. Just re-installed outlook 2007 and restored from a .pst file. Is that the problem? I am having the same problem.
When I follow the directions for Outlook 2007 to fix this my Tools - Account Settings - Address Books Tab shows "Outlook Address Book", but when I double click and bring up the property dialog the list is empty. When I go to the Contacts folder property dialog and the Outlook Address Book tab the "Show this folder..." check box is grayed out! Even the Tools - Address Book - Tools - Options "Addressing" lists are empty! Could it have something to do with the file format? When I go to Tools - Account Settings - Data files and select my Personal Folders properties it shows the format as "Personal Folders File (97-2002)". I thought this format was not compatible with Outlook 2007. Very frustrating reading through so many posts and seeing the same instructions and not being able to affect any change. Diane Poremsky mentioned a Outlook 2007 bug in another post here. Has this been confirmed and if so does anyone know when it might be addressed? Thanks, Richard "Gordon" wrote: "Jim Hermann" wrote in message ... I've got the same problem. Just re-installed outlook 2007 and restored from a .pst file. Is that the problem? The instructions work fine. We have no idea what you did, so we have no idea
what you did wrong. You must post information. You've posted none. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Jim Hermann" wrote in message ... Further, the instructions you refer to do not solve the problem. Russ,
I followed the instructions given by Outlook 2007 when it opened my .pst file. The file was transferred from Win XP/Office XP via the MS File Transfer utility. So if anything was done "wrong" it was done so by the MS tools themselves. Gordon had previously suggested a new profile and I have tried that approach successfully. This was a major pain to do and required either rebooting or using Task Manager to End Process Tree each time I needed to switch profiles as Outlook did not recognize the new profile (or ask to switch profiles) unless it was completely shutdown. Is there a way to REALLY shutdown Outlook more gently or to switch profiles while Outlook is running? I now have to repeat all my setup and display changes that I have been customizing over the past month to get this to be a useful tool again... Thanks for your help, Richard "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Most likely you migrated your data to this installation incorrectly and corrupted your profile. Create a new one. Unfortunately, that does tend to muck up Outlook. It's not the recommended way of transferring Outlook data. So if anything was done "wrong" it was done so by the MS tools themselves. Correct. Gordon had previously suggested a new profile and I have tried that approach successfully. You have to close Outlook and restart..... |
