I want my outlook contacts to show up in the adress book so I can select them
for addressing emails. I followed "Quick Reference Card - Become an Address Book expert" http://office.microsoft.com/training/Training.aspx?AssetID=RP011895021033&CTT=6&Origin= RC011894951033 and other places where it says "To make sure that the new folder appears in your Address Book, right-click the folder, click Properties, and then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Verify that the Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book check box is selected, and then click OK. " however, the 'show this folder as an e-mail Address Book' line is greyed out, and the check box is not active. I used the "Windows Easy Transfer" to transfer my settings from Office/Outlook 2002 when I bought the new laptop with Vista and installed Office/Outlook 2007. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this problem. Any solutions? Thanks. |

Answer has been posted here countless times. You cannot use WET with
Outlook. If you do, the profile it populates is corrupt and has no address book service, nor can you repair it. You must create a new profile from scratch and connect your data file to it using a supported method: open the data file and set it as your default. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Rob72" wrote in message ... Thanks. So does that mean that if I uninstall MS Office 2007 and re-install
it, then connect my outlook.pst file (which I've already converted to 2007 from the 97-2002 format), it will work? "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Answer has been posted here countless times. Not at all. Please take the time to go back and read my post and note that
it says nothing about uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook (which has never been known to solve any problem). Am I to assume that you do not know how to create a new Outlook profile? Suggest reading the basics: http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=out2003 Might also want to read up on how you migrate data correctly: http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...771141033.aspx Sorry. Since this information is posted here daily, I just assumed you had read the group. My bad. Might want to try doing so next time. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Rob72" wrote in message ... Thanks. Thank you. creating a new Outlook profile, as shown in the first URL, did
it. I've been migrating .pst files every 2-3 years but this was my first time using the WET. I'm disappointed that neither the WET nor any MS Outlook help (at least any help screen that is intuitively located) mentions that the WET will cause problems like this. I didn't even think about the possible relationship to the WET until I was drafting my post. Also, I'm not a frequent forum poster, but out of respect for the forum and experts like you, I did an automated search for answers to my issue and found none. Now that I've looked back (expanding my criteria this time), I do see that you posted a similar answer in November. Too bad one can't refine the search results beyond the initial search box. Thanks again. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Not at all. Next time use a reliable search engine. Using Google turned up 91 posts
