I have outlook 2003 and recently when I enter a new contact it is being
displayed in reverse order. example : I enter "Scott Smith" - outlook is set to save/display as last name, first name. Once saved it displays as "Scott, Smith". Can someone please help? This is only for new contacts, previous contacts are fine. |

Alexis,
when you are entering the new contact...the 4th line is 'file as'. That is where you can choose on how the name will be saved. hope that helped u a little. christine "Alexis" wrote: I have outlook 2003 and recently when I enter a new contact it is being displayed in reverse order. example : I enter "Scott Smith" - outlook is set to save/display as last name, first name. Actually that is not showing up correctly either. It is in reverse order as
well. Thanks though. "christinethreadck" wrote: Alexis, when you are entering the new contact...the 4th line is 'file as'. You provided no information here. State the field to which you are referring
and the settings you specified for that field. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Alexis" wrote in message news ![]() I have outlook 2003 and recently when I enter a new contact it is being displayed in reverse order. example : I enter "Scott Smith" - outlook is set to save/display as last name, first name. when I enter the person's name in the full name area, I type "Scott Smith".
In the setting I have selected as "last name, first name" however it reverses them - it should file "Smith, Scott" instead it files as "Scott, Smith". It only happens in my contacts, not on any other computer - we are networked. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: You provided no information here. When both first and last name are of the same length, parse the name
elements yourself. It is always better to enter name elements directly rather than into a derived field. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Alexis" wrote in message ... when I enter the person's name in the full name area, I type "Scott Smith". Alexis,
I'm getting the same error. It's really frustrating since no amount of changing the Outlook settings fixes it. Seems like it started happening when I made some global changes with Plaxo. Did you get the errors after downloading contacts to Outlook from Plaxo? |

Did you get the errors after downloading contacts to Outlook from Plaxo? Plaxo has a history of not playing well with Outlook. I'd never mix the two. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

This happens no matter what the length of the person's first or last name. It
only happens with my Outlook when entering a new contact, everyone else in the office does not have this problem.
