I am using Outlook 2007 and trying to search for contacts using the "Search
Contact" search box. I have well over 1,000 contacts. When I search for family members (people with my same last name), no one comes up - and I have a big family. I know my family members are in my contacts, duh. I already tried rebuilding the index from Indexing Options in the Control Panel over the weekend - did NOT fix the issue. I searched the MS Knowledge Base and could not find anything about known issues. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Michael S. |

State how you are conducting the search. Use Advanced Find and report those
results. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "M" wrote in message ... I am using Outlook 2007 and trying to search for contacts using the "Search Contact" search box. I have well over 1,000 contacts. I am using Instant Search.
When I use Advanced Find or use the "Search Adress Books" field on the main toolbar, Outlook DOES find the right Contacts. The problem appears to be with Instant Search and the "Search Contacts" box that shows on the Contacts toolbar. Instant Search does not use every field. Expand the Instant Search dialog
box. If the field you want to search does not appear there, do not use Instant Search to search that field. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "M" wrote in message ... I am using Instant Search. I appreciate the suggestion but I still come up with no results. I have
tried searching fullname, firstname, lastname; with caps, with out caps, etc.... Instant search can't find my contacts. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Instant Search does not use every field. Oh, jeeeeeez. I figured out the problem. Get ready for this...my address
cards were on filter! Come on, there should be an indicator that shows the results are being filtered. For crying out loud - do you know how many hours I spent scanning, rebilding, reindexing...
