Can I tell Outlook to NOT put all 3 email addresses in the To: section? Does
Outlook have an option to choose which email address I want to use? |

Well here's what happening, the autofill is not synonomous with the address
book so when I search for a contact using the search bar next to the address book button on Outlook 2007 I find Jason but Jason isn't in the address book or in autofill (nk2 file). So I click email from the contact full view and all three of his email go into the to vs. letting me choose which one I want to sent to. thanks for helping. Hi Brian:
I did Milly's "Alt+K" and is seemed to work and just did your "Ctrl+K" and it solved the Jason autofill issue. Yahoo! It also put Jason in the address book I may post a video on how I solved these issues. THANKS, Milly & Brian! Darrell P.S. I still wish Outlook didn't insert all emails in the To: field when I click email under the communicate section of the ribbon is that just the way it is or is there a fix so I select which email I want to send to? Ok so if there is no address book and its just a view of contacts how come
the address book doesn't have contacts in there that are in contacts and on autofill? Watch this new video for best explanation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xpb5958h2o Ciao, THANKS Darrell |

Thanks Russ that explains what I'm seeing but doesn't. I have contacts that
are not in the address book view but are emailable so-to-speak via autofill and from the full contact view. My frustration is that I can't add certain emails/contacts to a distribution list. As I said, the autocompletion cache is completely separate and _should_
contain entries that aren't in the address book. It's simply a list of your last 1000 recipients. The second problem is easily explained only if you provide more troubleshooting information. If a Contact that is in your Contact folder does not appear in the address book view it simply means that Contact does not have a resolved electronic address or resides in a Contacts Folder other than the one you are displaying in the address book view. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... Hi Russ:
Thanks for your time. Now I fully understand the autofill cache vs. the address book. I'm getting what your saying about the address book view with relation to the contacts but when I look at the email of one of the contacts in question I can't see any reason the electronic address would NOT be resolved. I don't have any other folders but one "Personal Folders" for all contacts so as best I can tell there is no reason why "M. Lami" wouldn't be in the address book view with most other contacts. It's perplexing to me. If you have time to view the video of me trying to access certain emails from the address book view that would give you all the information you need to assist me further. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xpb5958h2o Ciao Darrell |

Why is your "Address Book" field set to "Outlook Address Book" when you open
or search the Outlook Address Book? You never use that setting. You must set that field to the Contacts Folder you want to display. If you were configured correctly, the Outlook Address Book display should be completely empty. It is merely the shell for your Contact Folders. There is far more to your story than you have told. You are using the Outlook Address Book interface for far more than it was intended. All Contact data manipulation and all searching should be done in Contacts Folders, not the address book view. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... Hi Russ:
I haven't customized anything with regard to the outlook address book. So if its wrong that's the way it was installed unwittingly. How do I fix it, google provides no help nor do the key words I'm using for the forum provide steps after Jan 2007. I know the duplicate posts are annoying but I created a post titled: "how to set the address book to the contacts folder vs. outlook address book" Ciao Darrell |

It's pretty simple, and has been posted here many times. You set which
folder to display in Tools Options of the Address Book view. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... OK I've been there a gazillion times but this is all I have to choose from: Show this address book first ~ Outlook address book Accounts Business contacts Outlook Address book ~ Keep personal addresses in Accounts Business contacts Outlook Address book ~ Add address list Outlook Address book Accounts Business contacts Outlook Address book I've tried every options and combination before ever persuing help on this discussion board and I see no "contacts" option and never have until your latest post of even cluing me in that there was one. If you would like a video I will make and send you one. |

you keep leaving out. State how your profile is configured. Are you using Business Contacts Manager instead of Outlook? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... Hi Russ:
Thanks for helping! I'm not sure how to be more plain than the info I gave you below or in my latest post. You told me that I have Outlook 2007 configured wrong when I have done anything to configure it its just as I installed it. Plus I don't see what your referring to in Address book view, tools, options I see what I posted below which is not what you said should be there. I feel like I'm going in circles, I consider myself computer savvy and all conspicuous options are not working. Ciao Darrell "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: I don't need a video. I have not even started using business contact manager, I just installed it for future use if I use it all as my primary CRM is Maximizer 9 which has a feature that sends and receives desired contacts to outlook. You've changed the entire landscape by installing BCM. You'll need to ask in
a BCM group. Your dialogs in the address book view are beyond recognition for Outlook users like me. We would have no idea how to troubleshoot your issues. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... Hi Russ: Thanks for helping! This post seems to have gotten off track and never answered my question. Why
does Outlook insert all three email address vs. giving me a choice like other email clients? Its annoying to have all email addresses inserted then have to take away the ones I don't want to send the email address to, e.g., If I have a personal address and work address for a contact and this is a personal email shouldn't I be able to choose the personal email address before inserting? Outlook only inserts all 3 addresses if you tell it to by using Actions
New Message to Contact. You can easily insert only one address if you want by using autocompletion, autoresolution, or the Outlook Address Book to select your recipient or by just typing the address in the To: field. It is no different than any other email client. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... This post seems to have gotten off track and never answered my question. Hi Russ:
You answered my question but you are mis-informed. Thunderbird, Incredimail and others I've used in the past have a pop-up/dropdown window from within the client asking which email you want to use. It's very similar to "auto completion" only nicer. Plus I've seen Apple's email client in action and it too affords the user an option. Typical Microsoft ... I expect to much from the Dominate one but must comply if I want use of other powerful software such as Maximizer Ciao! Stuck between Microsoft and Hard Place waiting for apple business apps to emerge. address you want to use. Most of don't need to be prompted for that. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "brainstewn" wrote in message ... Hi Russ: You answered my question but you are mis-informed.
