Default E-mail type, what is that, when adding a contact in addressbook,

I am adding a contact for the first time on my labtop and it seams to be
different from my old PC, for inctance I had to create a PAB, personal
address book.
when createing a new contact in that book I have to type: display name,
E-mail address and E-mail type, is that POP or SMTP
