Using Outlook 07. In contacts I have added the email field. Is there an easy
way to get all my contacts email info in the field rather than adding it one at a time? Thank you, KayeC |

Could you perhaps be a little more specific in terms of what you actually
did "added the email field" to contacts. Even if referring to a custom form, did you not select the standard Email field(s) from the Field Chooser versus creating a new user-defined field in which case any data already in any of the 3 email address fields will still be there. Outlook processes existing email fields according to predefined processing rules (i.e. resolving the email address, populating Email Display As etc) which you cannot do by simply adding a new field "intended" to be used as an Email Address field. I was in contacts. I clicked on "customize current view", I then clicked on
fields and not finding "email" I clicked on new field and added it. Once it was in available fields I clicked the "add" button. What did you hope to achieve with this process?

Milly,
I have my contacts organized in certain categories. I view them in categories. In this view I added the field email so I could see the contacts emails in the category view. I simply wished to know if after I have added the field email is there an easy way to get the contacts email addresses in the field or am I going to have to add them one by one. Display your contacts in a by category view. Right click in the column header and select Field Chooser. Use the dropdown to select Email fields. Drag the first field (email) from the box and drop it on your column in the place where you wish to see the email addresses.

Milly,
I had already figured out how to place the emails field. What I want to know is how to get the contacts' email addresses to show up. Using your method, they never will. Use my method and they show automatically without you having to do anything.

This statement from the original post makes me suspicious: "Is there an easy way to get all my contacts email info in the field rather than adding it one at a time?" That indicates to me that she might have imported her contact, and we all know what that means. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
