Restore them from your backup.

Easy to say, but I have no clue if there is a backup. Unless its done
automatically I doubt it exists.

Anyone who syncs their Outlook data should create a backup of their data
frequently because the changes a sync makes are irreversible. Users are
responsible for making their own backups.

Ah yes, well thanks for that heart warming response. I'm fully aware of the
need, but obviously it had never occured to me to do this. Might I ask where
such files would exist or what there name/extension would be.

Sure. Or read the group. The information is posted every day.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm

Doug & Russ: How does Bill Gates sleep at night...I know, very soundly. I
too lost my database COMPLETELY as well, gone, nada, luckily I do back it up
about once a month in an Excel spreadsheet, but voila', Microsoft 2007 won't
take in 97-2003 Excel anymore, it just shuts down with the infamous error.

Microsift releases these versions years before they are ready at the expense
of business people till WE refine them. It is truly outrageous!!

I personally am dumping 2007 amd getting a refund.

What did you expect? Exporting to Excel is in no way a backup. Backing up
data is one of the most basic skills anyone using a computer learns to do.
How is this someone else's fault?

PS Russ, it wiped out the .pst files as well. What I DO expect is that a
well-researched software updrade that does not wipe out a valuable database
for no apparent reason and then on top of this insult, paying adsditional for
a Business Contacts additional to the costly software just to do what anyone
in business needs to do and which I have done easily since 1997, import an
Excel database into Outlook. Which last I checked Russ, was a Microsoft
file...dude, give it up, you are putting out upgrades with ten-year old
translators left out with no replacement and jacking us for addiltional $$
just to import a database.

Please!
