I've just gone through a bit of a trial and error learning process while
trying to export my contacts. During this process a new folder has appeared on my folder list that presumably I've created (it's called 'contacts backups' - my choice of name, not microsoft's). At some stage of this process I either moved, renamed or deleted the exported folder (I was 'experimenting' with possibilities - will I ever learn?). Now I'm unable to do anything with with this newly created folder on the folder list. When I click on it, or right click, I can't open it, close it, view properties - nothing. Everything I try produces a message box stating that 'the set of folders could not be opened'. I've now managed to export my contacts quite satisfactorily. All I want to do now is get rid of the new folder - it's no longer needed. How can I do this? I've tried searching for the accompanying file (using explorer) but can't find anything. Why can't I just delete or right click and 'close' it? Thanks cavasta |

You have corrupted your Outlook profile beyond repair. Create a new one.
What was the reason you needed to export Contacts? Exporting is rarely necessary, but is a good way to corrupt your profile as you have once again demonstrated for us. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "cavasta" wrote in message ... Thanks Russ. Why did I need to export my contacts? The ridiculous answer is
that I didn't. My actions were based on ignorance, curiosity and stupidity (hence my comment about will I ever Learn). Hopefully, I and others will learn from this. OK. Can you tell me how I create a new profile please. (By the way, everything in Outlook appears to working OK.) Many thanks cavasta "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: You have corrupted your Outlook profile beyond repair. Create a new one. What was the reason you needed to export Contacts? Sure. Creating a new profile is easy:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=out2003 Are you sure you really need to? If all you have is an abandoned reference to a PST file that no longer exists, why not just leave it alone? It's harmless. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "cavasta" wrote in message ... Thanks Russ. Why did I need to export my contacts? The ridiculous answer is that I didn't. Thanks again Russ. On reflection I think I'll leave the folder as it is.
After all, it's not doing any harm. Thanks cavasta |
