Default Outlook 2007 Locks Up

I'm not sure I would agree with your assumption that the "only file the
phone changes" is the notebook. That's placing far more confidence in your
sync software than it deserves. You might have a better explanation for what
has corrupted your data file, but from where I sit, sync software is the
number one suspect. Anyone who is running syncs against their file should be
backing that file up daily.
Have you tried repairing your file?

I do do frequent backups Russ, but the computer on which I have the problem
does not get its contact data via sync. It contains the master data file
and
this is synced to the the phone and then synced to my notebook from the
phone. The only file the phone changes is the notebook and that computer
doesn't suffer experience the problem.

Sorry Russ, my contacts are located on my personal computer. The way
the
data
gets to my notebook is I sync my phone with my desktop computer and
then
sync
the phone with my notebook having the phone overwrite the notebook.

Thanks for keeping after this Russ.

So if you entered a new Contact and it appeared correctly, then we
know
your
Outlook Address Book Service and profile are OK. That narrows the
problem
down to your Contacts Folder which is why I need the answer to rest of
my
inquiry.

I did create a new profile with a unique name. I'm not certain what
you
mean
by "Does the Outlook Address Book Service appear correctly..." The
address
book does appear on the top tool bar.

I went into Contact Manager and added one contact. This contact
showed
up
in
the address book. When I tried to author a new email and clicked on
the
To
button the program locked up just as with the other profile.

I have the same program and same address book and contacts on my
notebook
computer and it does not exhibit the problem so I have assumed it
must
not
be
a glitch in the .bcm data file.

It is certainly frustrating to have this happen and have no advice
what-so-ever or acknowledgement of the problem from Microsoft. I
noticed
another post today with the same problem.

Thanks again for your assisstance Russ.

For some reason when I try to reply to, forward or create a

when

click on the To, cc or bcc buttons Outlook locks up and I have

Task manager and terminate the program. The same thing happens
if
I
try
clicking on the address book in the message window. I can open
the

Also if I open a contact group and try to add an existing
contact
to
the
group this also locks up the program.

I have tried the repair feature and it finds nothing wrong.

Is there something I can try short of reinstalling the
software
which
may
or
may not fix the problem?

Thanks!

Default Outlook 2007 Locks Up

I really appreciate all the suggestions, but I'm not certain if I understand
the data file being the prime suspect. The reason I say this is because of
what I responded earlier. I created an entirely new profile which contained
no contact or address book entries and it still crashed when trying to access
the contacts. Regarding repairing the file, the only repair tool I find from
Microsoft is to repair a pst file and not a bcm file. In the case of the new
profile I created I made the one test entry into the Business Contact Manager
and this populated the address book. As I said earlier I do make regular
backups of the Business Contact Manager, but I have not tried using the
backed file since the new profile didn't didn't solve the problem and it was
a new pst and bcm and still crashed.

How nice of you finally to tell us you were using BCM and not Outlook. Did
you think we were mind readers? Post in a BCM group.
