Please just use the clear terms I requested so someone with more time than I
have can help you. No one could have any idea what you are doing. How could anyone but you know what you mean by "the general list?" There is way for anyone to reproduce a situation where Outlook does this. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Malcolm L. Miles" .(donotspam) wrote in message ... What I mean is that since I've had this problem of the records disappearing, I routinely check to see if the record is still in the general list immediately after creating the record. It is at first. Then a few minutes later it is no longer there. I don't know how else to characterize it, really. It's maddening to have the records disappear regularly, not to mention the fact that I can't really use the contact management functionality until I figure this out. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Clarify this statement. It is far too vague: "When I look up the new record immediately after creating it, it appears in mylist of contacts as it should." Make sure you specify the view to which you are referring in no uncertain terms. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Malcolm L. Miles" .(donotspam) wrote in message ... Good point. To answer your question, as soon as I complete the new contact I click on save and close. When I look up the new record immediately after creating it, it appears in mylist of contacts as it should. Within minutes, when I try to find the record again, it's gone. To make sure i wasn't crazy, I had a friend of mine try to create a few records herself and she had the same problem. As to the data folder the records are being posted to, since it appears with the rest of my contacts, even temporarily, doesn't that mean that the new record is being saved to the correct folder/database? "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: When you finish filling in the Contact form, what do you do next and what happens? I, too, am very, very new to this whole message board world, so I'm sorry for being inept at it. To answer your questions: 1. Outlook 2003. 2. Not sure what this is 3. Create a new contact by clicking on the New Contact button and filling in the info manually 4. Yes, I have been able to create contacts before, but for some reason I can't now. Is there a max number of records you can store in Outlook? I have Yahoo Sync enabled. Do you think that might have something to do with it. Thanks in advance for any help you could give me on this. It really is a problem, and I would have returned to this site to look into it more if my life hadn't gotten really busy shortly after I posted my question. Thanks again for any help you can give me. Russ, if I have somehow offended or upset you in some way, I apologize
sincerely. I truly thought I was being clear. I am very sincere in my desire to get to the bottom of my problem. What can I do from here? Has anyone else run into this situation in Outlook 2003 where you cannot find recently created new contact records in the Contacts database, reagrdless of which view you choose (Address Cards, Detailed Address Cards, Phone list, etc.,)? I cannot find the newly created records by searching for them within the Contacts database (by using the "Look for" and "Search In" boxes at the top of the screen below the toolbars) either. I appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Please just use the clear terms I requested so someone with more time than I have can help you. The only times I've seen it are end user error, not Outlook malfunction. End
users will often lose track of Contacts when they create them incorrectly, such as through the address book interface or in the wrong folder. That's why detailed steps of what you are doing and the changes made to your profile before the problem arose are essential to solving this. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Malcolm L.
