Default what is an LDAP directory

when I try to open my address book it tells me cannot contact LDAP directory
what does this mean. We had our computor in getting fixed and now we have it
back and this is the message we get. We can't email anything to anyone.
Please Help

Default what is an LDAP directory

Remove the LDAP directory service from Control Panel=MAil Icon-Accounts. Depending on your version (which you conveniently left out) it will either be a choice on the ensuing page or a tab for address books. Remove the LDAP from there, then back up one step and add the Outlook Address Book service. Completely close and reopen Outlook and you should be back in business.

ms. staples should be a bit kinder to those of us who don't have the
privilege of having the time, brains or tenacity to sit in front of a
computer ad nauseum. Her comments (cf: 'which you conveniently left out') to
Shirl seem a bit "oot"and "a" as we say in my business.

And posters should be a bit more cognizant of the volunteer status of people like me who take their time to answer questions. Including your Outlook version when there are currently 6 versions out with different behaviors would certainly be appreciated rather than your unhelpful commentary.
