Default Outlook 2007 (Vista) won't search Contacts

Since I migrated from XP & Outlook 2003 to Vista & Outlook 2007, the "Search
Address Books" on the Mail section of Outlook cannot seem to find them. When
I try to add "Contacts" or changed the name to "Friends," the "Show this
folder as an address book" under Properties is grayed out, whether I run as
an administrator or not.

I have struggled with this for two months and have not been successful. I
have seen it referenced a number of times, but the suggestions (as I have
interpreted them) have not worked.

I would be grateful for suggestions, especially of the non-humiliating
variety.

Ken O

PS If it has to do with my "profile" for some reason I just do not know how
to do this.

Try making a new profile. Control panel, Mail... set your current pst as
the default delivery location before opening outlook with the new profile.

Thanks, still no joy. Actually Control PanelUser AccountsMail.

But that did not work. I know .pst is a suffix, but I do not know what my
"current pst" is. When I made the new profile (old is "Outlook," new "kpo"),
nothing was in the file called "Contacts." (I assume because I did not set
the pst correctly.)

I will go back and see if I can figure it out.

use the detailed view in windows explorer and go by the date on the pst (if
you have several) and the file size.
