I've had this happen to 2 separate users on 2 systems within past month. Both
running OL2k3 on WinXPProSP2. They can still see their .pst file but lose the connection to the NK2. The files were still there but OL didn't see them. Instead created new file in "wrong" path: C:\windows\Application data\microsoft\outlook (instead of under the user profile). Once I rename new file and copy old one to this location, autocomplete works again. Why does this happen and how can I force OL to search for the NK2 under the user profile path? |

You can't. The problem is with the Outlook profile which you must recreate.

Thanks, Russ. I suspected that was going to be the answer but never hurts to
ask. Now I have to figure out why one user's profile is continually getting corrupted. He's a serial outlook killer, took less than a week on his newest computer! What's even stranger is that the second user is the first one's assistant, and they are the only two I can recall having troubles like this in the 8 years I've been supporting the users here! Either that or they're the only two who complained about it... "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: You can't. The number one cause for these problems is AV software. Might want to have a
look there as a start. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Lynn" wrote in message ... Thanks, Russ. I suspected that was going to be the answer but never hurts to ask. Thanks for the insight. Have 30+ users on same AV software, on various
versions of Outlook, and only 2 have this issue, but that doesn't mean it isn't the AV... "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: The number one cause for these problems is AV software.
