I'm working in Outlook 2000. I have a number of distribution lists that I
want to copy somehow as a backup. When I use the import/export wizard and try to map the fields, the fields are from the contact entry form. They don't work for a distribution list - many of the people on the list are not in a contacts list, but were just added to the distribution list manually. How do I map fields from a distribution list so the data will be exported to a file? I'm not tied to an Excel file - I really just want a way to copy all these people into some kind of file in case of disaster. I'd be happy to copy and paste the list into Word, but it doesn't give me that option. Thanks for any suggestions, Jen |

Don't export. Just save the DL as a .txt file. Open it in Notepad, remove the top lines that don't include addresses, and save it. The result is a tab-delimited file that Excel can easily handle.
