how do I put dashes in phone number

I need to put dashes in the phone number!
for some reason my phone number field doesn't automatically place the dashes
in it any longer. How do I set up my vcard so it does it automatically? I'm
having similar problems with other fields as well (seems like some of the
default settings have been wiped out) but if I can correct the phone number,
then I'll probably figure out how to correct my other defaults as well.
thanks,

Automatic formatting only applies to Contact Records, not vCards. It will
work as long as you have your default dialing location set correctly for
your operating system.

Hello Russ,
thank, thank you. that solved that problem.
Do you also know how to adjust how the name is inputed.
if i put in Eliza Gidding it thinks my first name is Gidding. and the file
as space gives me only two options - Gidding Eliza or Eliza, Gidding. That's
not normal! I have to put my name in as Gidding, Eliza for it to format
correctly. yuk. thanks again.

Hard to say since you never posted your Outlook version. I would look at the
format you specified for the Full Name and Files As... fields.
