Default block or make junk mail

Is it true that if you "block" a sender, that validates your email address?
Am I better just marking that sender as junk mail sender ? If "blocked" does
it go bakc to the sender automatically? I guess I do not fully understand
the difference between blocking and marking as junk mail..Can you help

No, it's not true.

Adding a sender to your Blocked Senders list is relatively worthless because
spammers change the sending address constantly. Sometimes adding a
particular domain to the Blocked Senders list helps some.

If "blocked" does it go bakc to the sender automatically?

No, at least using Outlook's definition of blocking. Blocking such as you
describe is a server function, not a client function, and it doesn't do any
good to "bounce" a message, since the sender address is usually either fake
or that of an innocent victim whose address was hijacked.

I guess I
do not fully understand the difference between blocking and marking
as junk mail.

In Outlook, there really isn't any difference. "Blocking" means adding a
sender to the "Blocked Senders" list, which is part of the Junk E-mail
feature. In Outlook, you can't mark a message as junk, only block the
sender.

Thank you. I get it now. So there really is not much to do about spam but
you can block the domain might be worth a try. I have Outlook Express at
home-would the same basic theories for blocking be the same for Express as
they are for Outlook?

Blocking for either is roughly the same, but you can get add-ins that help a
great deal. SpamPal for Outlook Express (http://www.spampal.org/) works
fairly well. Many people like Mailwasher (http://www.mailwasher.net/), but
I find it a tad less friendly. Google for "free spam blocker Outlook
Express" for other options.

For Outlook, many people find SpamBayes a good tool
(http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/).
