Our COO has changed the settings to his contacts frequently. I understand
that if you change the setting from first (middle) last to company or last,
first, then the contacts will be displayed differently each time. However,
when you change the settings, it only applies to the new contacts you create,
it does not change the settings to the ones already there.
When he displays his contacts now they are scattered throughout in all
different order. Is there a way to make them all be the same sort without
him changing each one? Can you export to Excel, sort there and then import
them back in? I want to make sure this is done correctly because he cannot
lose all of his contacts.

This looks like it works great, except I can't get the contacts with a middle
initial to change correctly. It appears the middle initial is grouped with
the last name. I would like the last name to appear first in the display,
but it's either the first name or the middle initial that appears first.
I love this tool though!

For example, our COO has contacts such as John A. Smith. However, because of
the option he had when he created it, the contact was saved A Smith, John. I
can change it so it is listed as John A Smith, but cannot change it so it is
listed as Smith, John A. The A is always before the last name no matter what
I choose. Apparently he has too many like this and doesn't want to change
them all by hand.

I guess he typed in the names in another order as the settings
expected it.

You can check this if you click on the button "Name...". If I´m right
the "A." will not be in the field "Middle Name" but in the Field
"Suffix".

However I´m right or not, this issue cannot be fixed only with
"ChangeNames". Please use "EditContacts" to exchange the fields
"Middle Name" and "Suffix". After that you should be able to get the
desired order with "ChangeNames".

I ran the tools on our COO's computer. Most of it worked great, the only
problem is now when you create a new email, click on the address book, change
to contacts, the Select Names doesn't necessarily follow what is in the
contacts. Some have initials first, others have first name listed first,
even though file as, display as and the name in the contacts are all correct
after running the tools.
We are assuming this is from dragging and dropping emails to contacts that
it is pulling the originators setup options.
The only way we can correct this is to create new contacts. Do you have any
suggestions for the Select Names to be displayed correctly?

Did you checked the setting in "Tools", "E-mail Accounts", "View or
change existing directories or address books", "Change..."?

There you can set the address book view to "First, Last" or to "File
As".
