Hi.
I'm in the middle of an Exchange migration from a pop3 environment and have run into a very strange situation with one of my users who has some big distribution lists. I imported her PST file into exchange and it appeared to work just fine, but she is now missing one of her distribution lists from her contacts folder This morning I investigated. Here's what happened. I loaded up another profile with her old PST file and sent the missing distribution list as an attachment to her Exchange Mailbox using her old pop3 account (we're still using pop3 as the default mail delivery until I change the MX record and cutover entirely to exchange). Using her Exchange profile, I received the email in her inbox with the attached distribution list and dragged and dropped the distribution list into her contacts. They showed up just fine in her contacts list. Here's where it gets weird... As soon as I hit send/receive and her Outlook mailbox sync'd up with the exchange server, the distribution list AND the email with the attached distribution list disappeared from her mailbox's contacts folder and inbox. The message could not even be found in her deleted folder. It's like it was never reveived. The distribution list in her contacts disappeared as well. I understand there are limitations with Distribution list sizes in outlook, but she never had this problem with this distribution list until we migrated her to Exchange. Could someone please explain why this is happening? Thanks, Chris |

FWIW, DL's (along with a lot of other data) have never survived importing.
That's the reason importing is never the recommended way to transfer Outlook data. Next time open the PST and copy what you want from it. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Chris" wrote in message ... Ok, nevermind importing the PST file. That's not what is causing the problem
I'm having. Now I'm just adding the distribution list seperately and I'm having the same problem. I have the Distribution list as an .MSG file and when I send it to an Exchange mailbox using a pop3 account, the moment Exchange syncs up with the mailbox it deletes the message containing the distribution list and deleted the distribution list from the contacts (if I drag and drop it there). I've counted the number of contacts in the distribution list and it's at 550 contacts. What can I do about this? Is there some setting in Exchange that will allow this distribution list to exist on the server? This was never a problem with just a PST file in outlook. Could you explain to me why this distribution list will not exist on the Exchange server in a mailbox when it was just fine on a PST file in the same version of outlook? No. Too many Exchange questions here for me. DL's can only be transported as
Outlook Items in RTF messages. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Chris" wrote in message ... Ok, nevermind importing the PST file. That's not what is causing the problem I'm having.
