When I import contacts from a .pst-file, outlook becomes very slow.
When I create a new mail profile (which is empty/no contacts imported yet), outlook behaves normal again. |

Why are you importing from a PST file? PST is Outlook's native format. It
does not require conversion. Stop importing. Just open the PST file and copy what you need from it. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "VEK" wrote in message ... Thanks for your support !
The consequence of opening the pst-file, is that it now shows me two contact folders. One regular contacts-folder, and one 'contacts in peronal folders' folder. Up to here, everything still works ok. When I select all contacts from the 'contacts in personal folders' and move them to the 'contacts' folder, the system is extremely slow again. So : everytime I populate the Contacts folder, the system becomes very slow. Fyi : The first thing I did, was to sync my contact-folder with Plaxo. This had the same impact ... slow slow slow "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Why are you importing from a PST file? PST is Outlook's native format. It does not require conversion. Hi Brian.
I uninstalled plaxo, at your request. Rebooted the system. Moved all the contacts from the 'contacts from personal folder' to the 'contacts folder'. Outlook still behaves slow, as soon as this folder is populated. "Brian Tillman" wrote: VEK wrote: The consequence of opening the pst-file, is that it now shows me two contact folders. Neither can I. The symptoms suggest a problem with the data that is being
copied or imported. Have you tried repairing this file? Is it still the same file into which you imported Contacts? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ... I can't see how the file is corrupt.
It's an export from all my contacts in outlook on computer "A", which I'm trying to move to computer "B". I exported all contacts from "A" in a .pst file, and imported them on computer "B". When I open the file in outlook on computer "B", like suggested, it shows itself as a extra contact folder, and everything works fine. As soon as I move the content of this newly created contact folder to the original/standard empty contact folder of outlook, the system becomes slow. You can't see how? We've already told you how. Never use export and import.

I have spent 14 hours and out of pocket money on a new Dell computer having
this issue. I tried to use my Palm Pilot, then an outside program to import my contacts and saved email and tasks from an old laptop with Office 2000 to a new one with Office 2003. Finally I exported to a .pst file, restarted the computer to brand new condition (losing everything not backed up), activated Office and imported the .pst file. Now it is running normally. You would think they'd make this a lot easier. -- WW "VEK" wrote: When I import contacts from a .pst-file, outlook becomes very slow.
