Default search and replace feature in Outlook Contacts

I am trying to search and replace characters in my contacts list to make it
conform to postal regulations (i.e, removing unnecessary commas) and can't
seem to find any way to do that except manually.

The only way that I can think of to perform this would be to export to Excel

your Outlook Contacts folder.

I agree, but I have set up user defined categories and am afraid that data
would be lost in the process
