Default Canada Contact and +1 Prefix for local and US numbers

I have three questions about Outlook 2003 I hope someone can help me with.
They aren't anything showstopping, just minor annoyances that scratch my
organized side a bit too raw.

1) When I add a Canadian contact to my list and change the phone number from
"United States" to "Canada", click "Save and Close", and re-open the contact,
it displays the phone number as "United States" instead of "Canada". Is there
any way to change this?

2) When adding contacts by hand, is there any way I can program Outlook to
know that a certain area code is linked to a certain country, so I don't have
to manualy edit every single country to fit the area code?

3) I've read a few messages on phone number formatting, and from what I can
tell it's hardcoded so you cannot change the format at all. Is there no way
to take the country code off of the United States numbers, so a number will
read " (555) 555-5555 " instead of " +1 (555) 555-5555 "?

Thanks in advance to whoever can shed light on these issues!
