When I add a new contact contact and type in the phone #, Outlook tries
to dial the phone # automatically. Is there a way to turn this feature off? Thanx! Bill |

Outlook has no such "feature." Provide more details as to why yours might be
the only installation that does this. What add-ins did you install? What version? What OS? What dialing location did you set? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bill727" wrote in message oups.com... Found the answer:
It's Windows XP SP2 installed on a Dell X1 laptop. When you type in a contact's phone #, a window pops up asking for your default area code. After you give it that info and click ok, you can then add names in the contacts without that window popping up anymore. That was the issue. But you said it was trying to dial a phone number. Did you misspeak?
Outlook will always prompt you for your dialing location if you haven't set it yet. It needs to know that so it can format the phone number. That's not the same as dialing a phone number. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Bill727" wrote in message ups.com... Found the answer: It's Windows XP SP2 installed on a Dell X1 laptop.
