I am trying to export the contents of my contacts folder but when I get into
the process it says it needs the outlook translator that is on the 2002
Office disc.

I dont have this disc as a bought this computer (which is now the old
computer) used. I do have a copy of Office basic 2003. I considered
upgrading outlook on the old computer, but some of the wording suggested I
would lose all the contacts in that process.

Given these constraints how can I get the contacts from outlook on my old
computer to outlook on my new computer?

Exporting is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. Just copy your
Outlook data file and reuse it.
