Default KB968858 Causes Rules to Reset

After installing KB968858, the custom rules that govern which emails will be
what color based on a specified criteria are lost. Several users' have
created rules to either make unread emails show up in red, or emails from
specific senders in a certain color etc using Automatic Formatting. However,
once the patch has been applied, those rules are lost and it goes back to the
default.

Is there a way of backing up & restoring Automatic Formatting rules?

No, that is not possible.

Note that this is a hotfix and not a regular update. As the article states,
for support on the hotfix you'll have to contact Microsoft.
