Default Outlook GMail Issue

I recently setup a GMail account in Outlook in which I typed in the wrong
information. I then deleted the account. However, it didn't remove the IMAP
folders associated with the GMail account. Now when I go to close the GMail
folders, I get the following error message:

The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook.

I've talked with my PC manufacturer, & they aren't sure what's wrong. I can
create a new GMail account, but the old folders still remain there & won't
close.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get these folders to close? I'd hate
to have to reinstall Outlook if I don't have to.

Thanks!

Is the PST file still listed in the Outlook mail profile? (e.g. go to the
mail applet in the control panel. For Outlook 2002 and newer, use the data
files button to see which PST files are defined.

If the PST file is no longer listed for the bogus IMAP account, then you
should create a new mail profile (don't copy the existing one) and delete
the old one. Again, this is done thru the mail applet in the control panel.
