I'm operating on Outlook 2000 in the Exchange mode. We are migrating to a
managed service in the IMAP mode. How do I set up an additional email for the IMAP server? |

IMAP is supported in Internet Mail Only mode where Exchange is not supported and Exchange is supported in Corporate/Workgroup Mode, where IMAP is not supported. You can't have both Exchange and IMAP accounts simultaneously in Outlook 2000. -- Brian Tillman |

Bummer - What about Exchange and POP3? Or is it the same deal? Is the only
way to do this to upgrade to 2003? Thanks... DC "Brian Tillman" wrote: DC wrote: I'm operating on Outlook 2000 in the Exchange mode. We are migrating to a managed service in the IMAP mode. Exchange and POP3 will mostly work, but there are limitations; it is not a
supported configuration: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=245446 XCLN: Error Message: No Transport Provider Was Available (You Cannot Use the Exchange Server and Internet E-mail Services in the Same Profile) Hal -- Hal Hostetler, CPBE -- Senior Engineer/MIS -- MS MVP-Print/Imaging -- WA7BGX http://www.kvoa.com -- "When News breaks, we fix it!" DC Exchange an POP work OK in my experience, but Microsoft does recommend using separate profiles for the two types of accounts so they aren't used together. From http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195478/EN-US/ : "It is not a recommended practice to include the Internet email service in the same mail profile as the Exchange Server service." -- Brian Tillman |

Brian - Thanks for the info and the link. I've been thinking about upgrading
my units to 2003. If I pull the trigger on this, will 2003 handle both set-ups in a more streamline fashion? DC "Brian Tillman" wrote: DC wrote: Bummer - What about Exchange and POP3? DC Outlook 2003 allows Exchange, POP , and IMAP (and HTTP) accounts all in the same profile, but there can still be issues when you mix Exchange and IMAP. Also, IMAP folders are ANSI format and so still have the 2GB limit. I have had a mail profile containing Exchange, IMAP, and POP accounts for some time now and usually have no trouble. -- Brian Tillman |
