Rules and Duplicate Messages
Hi there,
I've got a problem with MS Outlook 2003's Rules (I guess). I have two POP3 accounts, both delivering mail into the same PST storage. In the root of the tree I have two main folders, to where each of my accounts deliver mail according to the rules (Rule 1 - deliver mail incoming through Acc 1 to Folder 1; Rule 2 - deliver mail incoming through Acc 2 to Folder 2). Then, under Folder 1 I have several subfolders, each of them corresponding to some other rules, specifying that mail incoming through Acc 1 from this or that sender should go to this or that subfolder in Folder 1. All these rules work fine. But... in one case, when the mail from a specific sender comes through Acc 1, it not only goes to specified subfolder under Folder 1, but also is duplicated and goes to the root of Folder 1. So I have the same message twice - one is in the subfolder specified in the rule, and the same message in the root of Folder 1. This happens only with one rule, all other rules work fine. I've checked the rule, responsible for this subfolder, and found no problems - the rule is plan and simple: if mail comes through "Acc 1" from "Sender X", move it to folder "Subfolder A". That's it - the same as with other subfolders. But it keeps delivering messages to two destinations. What could be the problem? Thanks! |

Sounds like both rules apply so both rules get executed. Add the action
"Stop processing more rules" and sort your rules accordingly. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more ----- "Moses3d" wrote in message ...
