I have a problem that I can’t understand and resolve. I am Using WinXP Pro
SP2. and Outlook 2003. on both my Desktop and in my Laptop. Following the same procedure described here my Desktop works like a charm connecting and downloading my email from the Exchange Server and other e mail accounts. My lap top does not connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server. Why doesn’t the Laptop communicate with the MS Exchange Server? Set up a Microsoft Exchange Server mail account. Control panel - Mail/Fax - Show profiles- Add Built my profile. And set it as use always. Next went to Email Accounts - set up a new account - Microsoft Exchange Server Entered: xxxserver.xxxxx.xxx Entered user id: (mailbox id in the server) Xxxxxxx Clicked More Settings - Connections tab- Selected: Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP -Exchange Proxy settings - Under Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange entered: xxxx.xxxxxxx.com Selected: Connect using SSL only And then under Principal name for proxy server entered: msstd:xxxx.xxxxxxx.com Selected the Authentication. And clicked OK, OK, Next, Finish. Launched Outlook 2003 on screen a block with the: XXXXXX\Xxxxxx And asked for the password entered it. And after some time I get the message “The name could not be resolved. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be on line or connected to complete this action.” If I just open the IE browser and enter the “https://xxxx.xxxxxxx.com/exchange” address I get immediately to the logon screen where I can enter the user id (mailbox) and the password and it takes me right on to my mailbox. So I know my laptop has connectivity. What am I doing wrong? Any and all help would be very much appreciated. -- sad newbie |
