why won't the network accept my password?

I am trying to set up my outlook for my gmail account, and i am attempting to
input my password for pop.gmail.com. I am using my gmail account name and
password, and the program is saying it is not correct. any suggestions?

Re-read the instructions at the gmail site to ensure you have the proper
server configurations set up - it is non-standard.
