How do I keep Outlook from putting an envelope in my lower toolbar when mail
comes in?
It is just a distraction.

Tools Options Email Options... Advanced Email Options Uncheck the
Desktop Alert option.

Thanks for the reply Russ.
I went through the instructions but there is not a "Desktop Alert option"
in the advanced email options area.
In the email options there is a place to check for alerts but it has never
been
checked yet i still get the little envelope at the bottom of my screen.
Any other ideas?

My idea would be for you to provide enough information so we do not have to
guess.
State your Outlook version.
Always.
