Default Outlook and html emails

A friend who I think uses Outlook not Outlook Express says she can't open
certain emails. I think they are probably html emails. Is there a
preference setting in Outlook she cam change somewhere?

TIA

What exactly happens when she tries to open them? Does she get an error, are
they plain text etc. What folder are they in?

Her reply is this

the problem when I try to open the attachments, it tells me
that an error was made when doing so, therefore the message was destroyed,
other times it shows a blank sheet.

Are these valid messages and attachments - i.e., attachments she is
expecting, from people she knows?

How is the message destroyed?

Yes she says some attachments from friends.

Others from Travel advisors and airlines will open O.K. if she asks for them
in plain text.

The error message says damaged in error.

Is she running antivirus or security software on incoming email? Disable
it. It can corrupt attachments.
