Show full drop down menus after short delay

I'm sure this Outlook feature (common to all my Office 2000 products) drives others crazy, as it does me.
The short delay is about 5 seconds, which might as well be 5 hours for all the practical use it is (not)!

I have searched the forum messages but can't find anything relevant.
Can anyone help by advising either how to switch this featutre to zero delay so that all menu items appear instantly. I suppose a reasonable fix would be to reduce the dealay to maybe 0.5 seconds (at most).

Show full drop down menus after short delay

its an options in customize tools dialog - right click on the toolbar area
and choose customize - last tab to disable the show recently used commands
first option or just turn off the delay.

Diane,
Thanks so much for the quick response.
I can't believe I managed not to find this method, although I have been caught before not realising that the cancelleation of one feature often does more than you might expect.
Anyway my problem solved, & my red face, will I imagine return to normal soon.
