Outlook 2002 with SP3 + post SP3 patches running on WinXP Pro SP2 (post SP
patches up to April 2008). Problem: When I double click an email attachment of type MSG (email type), it doesn't open. Instead, I get the following message: "The form required to view this mesage cannot be displayed. Contact your Administrator." I google for the above and did the following (not necessarily in the order listed below): 1) Delete FRMCACHE.DAT from C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS\ 2) Outlook Tools | Options | Other | Advanced Options | Custom Forms, then click Manage Forms, then Clear Cache 3) Detect and Repair Outlook 4) Restart Outlook 5) Restart PC None of the above solve the issue. If I save the attachment to disk, I can open it. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Thanks. |

You didn't look hard enough - either disable the Google Desktop Search indexing of Outlook or uninstall it completely.

Company policy doesn't allow Google Desktop. There's no Google software
(desktop, earth, toolbar etc) installed. Is there anything else that could possibly cause this problem? Thanks. "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" What@ever wrote in message ... Fixed.
Don't ask me what fixed it. I did so many different things at once before logging back on as the user (Jane) who's having problem opening .MSG attachments. It works fine now. Here's a list of what I did: - Remove custom forms (SCL.CFG and SenderID.CFG) - Clear form cache thru Forms Manager (again) - Delete frmcache.dat file (again) - Use IE to go to Microsoft Update (to install 2 items that have nothing to do with OL2002 - they a SQL 2005 Express Edition SP2 and Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition SP1) - Logon to AD domain as myself (this is the first time I use this PC to logon to AD domain as myself. A new XP profile is created on this PC) - Create a OL2002 profile for myself to open my Exchange mailbox - Add (additional) Exchange mailbox that belong to Jane (the user who has problem opening MSG attachment) - Open an email that has MSG attachment in Jane's mailbox. It opens. - Logoff - Logon as Jane - Open the MSG attachment - VOILA! It opens! One of the above must've fixed it. Not sure which one. I normally change 1 thing at a time so I know what fixes a problem. This user needs the PC to do her work. My only option is to fix it as quick as I can. "John" a wrote in message ...
