Sicne you do not tell us your Outlook version and what it is that you have
done, there's no way we can tell you what's wrong. Include explicit
details, including the exact text of any error messages.

If they are both free accounts, then certainly Yahoo will not work at all,
and Hotmail will only work if you have converted to a free Live Hotmail
account, you are running Outlook 2003 or 2007, and you have installed the
Outlook Connector.

I am using Outlook 2007 for those of you wondering. The Yahoo account is
free, yes, so why does this mean it will not work? Also, the Hotmail is
Windows Live Hotmail. I read somewhere about a connector, but I really
didn't understand what it was or how to get it or set it up. Will this
connector solve the problem?

So I have found the connector, but there are a few different downloads and it
says to download the one best suited for my needs, but how do I know which
one I need?

You know, I am so stupid, found the one with the exe. at the end so I figured
that part out, but still I'd like to know why being free makes an HTTP
account like Yahoo not compatible with Outlook. Thank you!

Because Yahoo wants your money. They do not allow POP connections to their
free accounts. It's their mail server and disk space. They're free to
charge for their services.

yahoo does not support HTTP access - it requires WebDAV and few providers
outside of Microsoft support it.
