Default Save and Close button is missing

In the past week, two things on my Outlook 2003 changed and I don't know why.
When I add a new Task, there is a convienent "NEW" button to click (not
using the File menu) and that opens the new task. I then type the new task
and there WAS a convenient "Save and Close" button (not using the file
menu). Now that "Save and Close" button is no longer there. How can it just
disappear?

Perhaps you accidentally removed it from the toolbar. Right-click the
toolbar and choose Customize. Select the Toolbars tab, select the Standard
toolbar and click Reset.
