routinely getting an error message saying: Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client. An error has occured. Any suggestions? |

Place a copy of the .pst on the computer you are trying to import to ... the
desktop is a good location. And then import from the copy. You should have no problem doing this. You cannot import from one computer to another. Cathie "Jimmy " wrote in message ... You must have Outlook 2003 or 2007 (depending on the version of the .pst file - unicode versus ansi) installed on the new computer in order to export from Outlook to Windows Mail.

Windows Mail can import from a .PST exactly the same way OE did, one must
have Outlook installed and functional on the (Vista) transfer machine and connected to the .PST the data is to be transferred from. Windows Mail offers Outlook and Exchange as transfer sources. Yes, from that standpoint, you're correct. To the best of my knowledge, NO
program but Outlook can natively open a .PST file. I misinterpreted your response. Apparently you missed the post to which I had responded. Here it is again: Cathie wrote: Place a copy of the .pst on the computer you are trying to import to ... the desktop is a good location. And then import from the copy. You should have no problem doing this. You cannot import from one computer to another. Notice that Cathie says that you can import from the PST directly. Clearly incorrect. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
