We have email problems with several of our clients and customers.

To these customers, every time when we email out (using Outlook)

with
attachments, such as .doc and .pdf and .jpg files. These email was
received with one large garble inline text message, but no
attachment, by these customers.

In what message format are you sending these messages? What mail
client(s)
are the recipients using? (I realize you might not know this.) What
version of Outlook are you using? What type of account?

Brian,
I am having a similar problem. I updated my California Associates
Security system, and all of a sudden some (but not all) of my email
recipients cannot open my attachments. This includes doc, pdf, xls, and
ppt. They get an Error message that the file was corrupted. I am using
Outlook 2003 and Miscrosoft XP. I have tried zipping the files to no
avail. I can send the same files through my Internet based Yahoo account
with no problem. Also, I can receive others' files when they use Outlook
with no problem. When I send to those with AOL accounts, my file
attachments are renamed with a mime extension, but will not open.

Any ideas? I am really frustrated!

Robert

Sounds like the issue lies with AOL. AOL users have always been particularly
susceptible to spam, perhaps because they tend (generalisation I know) to
be more naive about the internet. So, AOL have recently put in place very
draconian anti-spam filtering.

I suggest that instead of using attachments, you send in plain text and
include a link to a webpage with the additional information.

It's best to start your own thread.

I updated my California Associates Security system,

Are you sure it's not Computer Associates? (CA)? CA sells an antivirus
product called "CA Anti-Virus".

What happens when you uninstall the AV program?

I have the samew exact problem and it seemed to show up after I upgraded to the latest CA Suite. I saw one post that suggested turnign off Outbound email protection in the Firewall. Does anyone know a concrete solution for this (and I don't mean encase my PC in concrete and sink it ) 8)
