Default Increase of spam

Hello All,

For quite a while I have managed to keep a lid on spam where that my peak of
spam would be approximately 2 or 3 per day. There would be the rarity that
I would receive 5 of them.

Part of this is that I ensure to all my friends never to send me those
"joke" e-mails where they automatically forward them to everyone that is in
their address book into their "To:" box. This position has been for a
number of years. You might can say that I am rather "authoritive" about
this procedure.

Putting all this aside, Microsoft Outlook 2007 has done a great deal in
quickly diverting those spam into their "Junk Mail" folder. A folder I
really like in order to stop the potential of what's in those e-mails. Also
my updates have been as recent as 14th November and again the 19th bearing
that I had to reinstall the operating system from another issue (which I
founf out later that I need not do this).

The question to all would be that are you expereincing an major influx of
spam mail that is also bypassing the junk mail folder of Outlook? I am now
receiving approximately 10 to 12 e-mails a day which is rather concerning
despite my facsistic style in e-mail address security. This would be
approximately 3-weeks this wave has begun.

Kindest Regards

Spam does come in waves, generally speaking (to continue the analogy), the
tide is ever-increasing. I would prefer to filter on the server, rather
than download and then filter.

Options.

Send all email to a server based spam filtering service
Send all email to a google mail account - which does include excellent spam
filtering
One of my domain hosting company has implemented "greylisting"- which has
massively reduced the amount of spam received but does have some
disadvantages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greylisting)
