Default Outlook is closed, but emails still coming

i just got the new outlook 2007 and i must say i'm not impressed. i am
disappointed that there is no way to transfer folders from thunderbird, but
the biggest problem is that when i close my outlook the emails are still
coming in. how do i stop this?

Find the application that is keeping Outlook running.

How are you closing Outlook? File - Exit? After that, if you go to Task
Manager (control-shift-escape) and go to the Processes tab, is Outlook.exe
still listed there? Do you have something like blackberry sync on the
system that might be keeping Outlook running? Or maybe an AntiVirus
software that links into Outlook?

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.
7. Skype - update to their latest version.
8. My old nemesis Plaxo.

As for the Thunderbird complaint, ask them to write a transport. They came out after Outlook so it is on them to provide compatibility, unless they don't want to.
