Hi
I am using Outlook Connector in order to be able to read the emails of another inbox (based on lotus notes) in my outlook application. Since I installed outlook connector, I have two inboxes in outlook (one is in my "personal folder", the other one in the folder "lotus notes"). I have specified (under options\accounts) that new messages should be deviated to the inbox in my personal folder. However, after every restart, new messages are transferred to a folder called "lotus notes". It seems that this is somewhere defined as a default and I do not manage to change it. This causes problems since all the links (calendar, tasks, contacts, ...) also get changed and I cannot access my calendar and contact data any more. Furthermore, the synchronisation with my mobile phone does not work either any more. I can only regain access to this data by creating new links (every time!) or by changing the settings again (every time!). Does anyone have an idea where this default setting comes from? How can I change it? I would like my personal folder to be the default. Thanks for your help in advance. All tips are kindly appreciated. Kind regards, Franco |

However, after every restart, new messages are transferred to a folder called "lotus notes". If I recall correctly, with the Lotus Notes connector, the connector folders will be the default folders, just as in an Exchange environment, the Exchange mailbox is typiclly the default delivery location. It seems that this is somewhere defined as a default and I do not manage to change it. This causes problems since all the links (calendar, tasks, contacts, ...) also get changed and I cannot access my calendar and contact data any more. Click ToolsE-mail AccountsNext. In the "Deliver new e-mail to the following location" drop-down, what is showing? Is it this value that you find reverts afer you change it? Furthermore, the synchronisation with my mobile phone does not work either any more. I can only regain access to this data by creating new links (every time!) or by changing the settings again (every time!). Your sync software most likely will sync only with the delfault folders. I would have thought that if the Lotus Notes folders were you default, that the sync software would use them, but perhaps the connector interferes with that. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] Hi Brian Thanks so much for your message. It is really driving me crazy since I cannot synchonize my organizer any more. You are absolutely right, the connector folders are default folders and it seems as if I cannot change this. In the "deliver new e-mail to the following location" drop-down I can choose between the connector folder or the personal folder. But every time I close/open Outlook again, the connector folder is default again. And I actually prefer to send messages via the connector Email account (but contacts and calendar should not be synchronized!). And you are also right that ActiveSync only seems to synchronize with the default folders. In order to solve my problem, I would need to be able to 1) define the inbox of the "connector folder" as default as mailbox for outgoing messages and 2) define the calendar and contact folder of my "personal folder" as default. In this way, ActiveSync would still synchronize my contacts and calendar. However, I am not sure whether maybe the following is possible: 3) can I set up an outbox in my "personal folder" and still send my emails via lotus notes (with or without connector?) 4) can I transfer my contacts and calendar entris from the "personal folder" to the "connector folder"? but I am concerned that this is less safe (I am so far only familiar with .pst files I back up regularly) = by the way: the backup file of the connector folder has the ending .nst (???) Thanks for any more help. It is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Franco |

In this way, ActiveSync would still synchronize my contacts and calendar. Unfortunately, this isn't possible. By definition, the delivery location defines which folders are the default folders. It's all or nothing. However, there are third-party sync tools that can work with multiple folders. This is one: http://www.chapura.com/pmp_wm.php However, I am not sure whether maybe the following is possible: 3) can I set up an outbox in my "personal folder" and still send my emails via lotus notes (with or without connector?) Sorry, I don't have enough familiarity with the Lotus Connector to say. If you use a POP account for mail delivery, however, you can make your outgoing address appear to be whatever you want and if you choose the address that matches that of your Lotus mailbox, your recipients will see the messages as coming from that address. I don't know if it's practical for you or not, however. 4) can I transfer my contacts and calendar entris from the "personal folder" to the "connector folder"? but I am concerned that this is less safe (I am so far only familiar with .pst files I back up regularly) = by the way: the backup file of the connector folder has the ending .nst (???) Does Lotus Notes have a calendar? If so, you should be able to drag the contents of yoru Personal Folders calendar to the Lotus calendar, and the same for the Contacts folder. You don't copy the folders themselves, just the contents. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
