Default assigning tasks in outlook 2003

I am trying to use the assining tasks feature of outlook. we do not have or
use the exchange server, but I am under the impression that you can still
assign tasks and have them updated. Anyway, I have created a task, assigned
it to a contact, they receaved and accepted it, i then receave a new email
noting their acceptance of the task, however the task in my task list still
reads "waiting for response", i tried clicking and draging the email into the
task section but this just creates a duplicate task item. Please advise.

Thank you.

Under Tools | Options | E-mail Options | Tracking Options....do you have
"process requests and responses on arrival" checked?

Have you opened and closed the "Task Accepted: subject of Task" email you
received? Opened and closed. Not marked as Read.

I double click on the email "Task Accepted: subject of task" but the only
thing it does is show that I have one less new email. A normal email will
open in a new window when I double click on it, where as again the task email
does not; but it loses its bold and is marked as opened. Still the task in
my task list reads "waiting for response".

Wish I had a better answer for you but I've found that request processing is
sometimes unreliable in Outlook.
