My client sends me Word documents but they have been coming through lately
with a .dat extension that doesn't seem to allow me to open them. It's encoded or something and looks like a bunch of symbols instead of text. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Thank you! |

No, it's not winmail.dat. It keeps the first part of the filename correct -
just changes from .doc to .dat Is there something I can do on my end to fix the document so that I can read it? Thank you! "John" a wrote in message ... Is it winmail.dat by any chance? ask the sender to use plain text format to eliminate RTF as the cause.

Not that I know of. Follow the suggestion offered by Diane and resend the message. That might solve conversion problem. |
