This started happening to me yesterday, except it grays out as it starts. I
set the unhide, but I still can't find outlook.pst or scanpst. "K. Orland" wrote: Outlook runs well for millions of people and businesses. It's normally quite stable. Depending on how you get your mail (you'll have to advise if you're using a POP3 or Exchange account, Exchange is normally used in a business environment), you may or may not be using a PST file. An Outlook PST file for a home user is the default data file where transactions occur. It's the destination for incoming mail. It can corrupt but there is a repair tool for it and all you have to do is a file search for scanpst.exe. An Outlook PST for an Exchange user is not the default data file but a storage file to help offset the mailbox size limits usually imposed in most businesses. It has the potential to corrupt and the repair is the same. Make sure you unhide all hidden folders and files (use Windows Explorer to do that). Close Outlook. Search for scanpst.exe using your file/folder search function. When you locate it, double-click it and follow all the instructions including locating your PST file and scanning it. If any errors are found they should be repaired. Run scanpst.exe until no errors are found. Open Outlook to see if this has helped. -- Kathleen Orland - MVP Outlook Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.howto-outlook.com/ "Jim" wrote: Sorry I dont know what a PST is or how to repair. I am about to give up on Outlook 2007 and go back to Thunderbird. It runs fine. I just hate being out $100 for software that is not stable. "K. Orland" wrote: Have you tried a repair of your PST? However I have run 2 different Virus scans, both in the deep mode. I also have two spyware programs and have run those. Nothing comes up. BTW I ran a deep scan for Viruses while in the 'safe mode'. I would also recommend that you download and install two antispyware apps and run them since I've seen them pick up viruses that antispyware doesn't.
