What is the exact text of the error? What have you tried so far in an attempt to fix it? What type of account did you add? Exactly when does it crash? What do you click to make it crash? -- Brian Tillman |

Rosie, Outlook 2000 will not work in Vista without a minor change of coping a couple of files to a new location. Do the following - - Use Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System Copy wab32.dll and wab32res.dll to C:\Windows\System32 That should do it. "Rosie" wrote in message ... The first thing I'd do is to delete the (usually hidden) file %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat . The next things I'd do is create a new mail profile by deleting the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WIndows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings and then using the Mail applet in Control Panel to create a new profile. -- Brian Tillman |

I cannot verify the email function. |

Outlook is simply a client software. You can install it but if you didn't set
up a mail profile for it to use, it can't do anything. However, since Outlook 2000 is not compatible with Vista there isn't anyone to confirm that you can actually use it successfully with that operating system. You could follow Mellowed's instructions but you also must create a mail profile for Outlook to use. Create a new profile: http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm To get the names of the servers you must set up for incoming and outgoing mail, you will need to obtain that for yourself from your ISP's website. If you're trying to use Outlook with Hotmail, you must have a paid Hotmail account. -- Kathleen Orland Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.howto-outlook.com/ "Rosie" wrote: ok ....as a pc idiot I just followed the auto prompt to install so really don't know what you mean here..........thanks for your effort and happy to take advice.
