I assume you don't just want to create a folder to move junk into, but
rather you want an active tool that cleans spam? If so, Google for SpamBayes. -- -Ben- Ben M. Schorr, MVP Roland Schorr & Tower http://www.rolandschorr.com "private68" wrote in message ... How do I set up a junk mail file in my inbox for Outlook 2000? |

No that's not what I need. On the left side of my Outlook is my inbox with
files as calander, deleted, inbox, sent, notes, outbox, personal, etc. & I want a file for junk mail. For example I just learned how to send a email to the junk sender's list or adult content list. What if someone's email that I need goes to that list? How do I check it? "Ben M. Outlook 2000's junk mail filtering is minimal and it does not have a built-in Junk E-mail folder. If you want one, you must create one yourself and then use rules to process the incoming mail yourself. The built-in junk filter behavior is simply to color the subject lines of incoming messages if the sender is in the Junk Senders or Adult Senders list. However, see this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195398/en-us . Even then, those lists are nearly worthless because spammers change addresses so frequently. The junk mail filter in OL 2000 also scans the bodies of incoming messages for certain phrases (which you cannot adjust). The file %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\filter.txt describes what this filter tests (but it's an information-only file - it doesn't influence the scanner). Ben's advice of using SpamBayes is best. You might also want to read http://www.slipstick.com/rules/junkmail.htm For example I just learned how to send a email to the junk sender's list or adult content list. What if someone's email that I need goes to that list? The Adult Senders and Junk Senders lists are simply text files that you can edit (Junk Senders.txt and Adult Senders.txt). They're both found in the (usually hidden) folder %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook. -- Brian Tillman |
