Yes, here is the error message with number.
Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (smtp) e-mail server 0x80042109. This user is our salesman in another state. I was thinking maybe his isp is blocking the email thinking that it could be spam. Thanks for replying and please advise. "K. Orland" wrote in message ... Are you running both the Norton firewall and Windows firewall? Disable one.
Make sure Outlook.exe is added to allow outgoing access. Also, have you updated Norton recently? Check their website for any possible issues. Are you trying to connect to a server other than your ISP's? The smtp mail server must and has to be your ISP's outgoing mail server's name. Can you telnet to port 25 of the server? If not, the problem is not with Outlook. Have you verified the server name is correct? How often are you polling for mail? If it's more often than 10 minutes, you may be timing out your requests to your server. -- Kathleen Orland Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ http://www.howto-outlook.com/ "john doe" wrote: Yes, here is the error message with number. The user is not using Norton
We put AVG on there and we are using the windows firewall. I disabled AVG and the windows firewall and still it doesn't want to send the email in the outbox. I had logged into the computer using logmein and tried to telnet. But it seems Vista doesn't have telnet anymore. I turned off "show hidden files" and searched for telnet, but it didn't find anything. Yes, the user is using a different ISP when trying to log into our email provider. He will try to this afternoon to see if he can send emails from the other office. I'll find out about the polling. Thanks for the advice. "K. Orland" wrote in message ... | Yes, the user is using a different ISP when trying to log into our email
| provider. Many ISPs will not let you use another ISP for SMTP on port 25, unless they authenticate. Even then, many will still not, unless there is an alternative SMTP port, such as 587, or 2525, which also must be authenticated. Thus, the person may have to set up SMTP thru whatever ISP he/she is temporarily using. Tom |

AT&T is in the process of changing SBC Yahoo to SSL connections and the ports for POP and SMTP are changing to 995 and 465, respectively. The servers are changing as well from pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com to pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp.att.yahoo.com. You should have received a message about it in your SBC Yahoo mail. They also provide a migrator tool to allow you to update all of your account settings. Ok. We got it working.
We are using a different email address system than yahoo. Our incoming server is normal: pop.myisp.com Our outgoing server is smtp.mail.yahoo.com on port 465 and using SSL We also have to use the outgoing server requires authentication. So we used the the email address for the user name and password for the password. Thanks for your help.
