Help, Please...
Years ago, I used Outlook Express. I saved/exported all of the folders, just in case. Now, I use Outlook 2000 SP3. I need to import the "Sent Items" folder from the old OE .DBX file. I have all of the old .DBX files on a backup CD. I copied the "Sent Items.dbx" file to the only "C:\Docs & Settings\Me \Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{WierdText}\MS\OE\" folder that currently exists. In O2000, I tried... File Import & Export Import Internet mail & addresses Outlook 4 & 5 (Mail only, no Addresses or Rules) Finish and it replied "1 of 1 messages imported". A silly message showed up in the Inbox... welcoming me to Outlook Express. ! Help? ! ? Thanks Very Much, in advance. Mark246 |

Outlook will only import it if Outlook Express is using it. You might want
to check with the Outlook Express newsgroups on how to get that to happen. "Mark246" wrote in message oups.com... Help, Please... Years ago, I used Outlook Express. Simply do a file, import, mail items from a store source and point at the
folder called Outlook Express where you saved the old messages then import selected folders only and click on sent to get them into OE. Will take 2 minutes depending on the size of what you are importing. "Vince Averello [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... Outlook will only import it if Outlook Express is using it. Vince,... Say, what?!
I'm not now using OE at all. I wouldn't want to start up OE... I don't know what it would mess up. Thus, I think OE groups couldn't help. Diamontina,... Very cool name. Import... From a "store source" ? Where's that option in O2000? In O2000,... I tried... File Import & Export Import... Internet mail & addresses and I couldn't point to any certain file. I tried... File Import... From another Program or File Personal Folder file (.pst) and it said that the .dbx file is not a .pst file. Duh! Wouldn't work. I tried... File Import... From another Program or File dBase and it wouldn't recognize my .dbx file. Help, Please? Thanks. Mark246 |

In order to import OE messages into Outlook, they MUST be available in OE first. Outlook cannot directly import an OE data file. It comminicates directly with OE in order to import its messages. You wouldn't want to import OE messages into Outlook anyway. Importing using Outlook changes the received date to the date and time of import and does not preserve the original received time stamp. You can preserve the time stamp if you export to Outlook from within OE. -- Brian Tillman |
