Hello,
I'm running Outlook 2007. After I've changed my .pst file (actually, it's the same file, I just moved it to a different location), I cannot save the password to this file anymore. I've tried everything - checking "Save password in password list", changing password, even removing it completely - didn't work. Every time I start Outlook I have to enter the original password again (even if I changed it or removed - Outlook still wants the original one!). I have two partitions - Windows XP and Vista Ultimate. Tried on both - same result. I would appreciate your help. Thank you, -- Peter Afonin |

Thanks, Brian,
There several ways to access pst data files and checge password - for instance, I do just as described he http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...308881033.aspx. On the File menu, click Data File Management. On the Data Files tab, click the Personal Folders file (.pst) for which you want to change the password, and then click Settings. Click Change Password, and then type both your old and new passwords. In the Verify password text box, type your new password again, and then click OK. But I don't care about changing password, the big problem for me is that I cannot save it. Every time I start Outlook it asks me for password, and offers me to save it in the password list. This doesn't work! Every time I check this box, and every time I start Outlook it asks me for password again. What would be the point of putting a password on the PST if the PWL remembers your password? That's no more secure than simply having no password. -- Brian Tillman |

Brian, I don't care, I just don't want to type it. I tried to remove
it completely - didn't work. As I mentioned in my first message, I cannot change password or get rid of it - I'm stuck with the original password and have to enter it any time I start Outlook. It's a big problem for me. Outlook 2007 is so slow that I scheduled my PC to start automatically and run Outlook about an hour before I start working, otherwise I just cannot use my PC until Outlook gets all mail. Now I cannot do it anymore. Thank you, Peter On Mar 14, 2:05 pm, "Brian Tillman" wrote: wrote: But I don't care about changing password, the big problem for me is that I cannot save it. Just want to add something. The problem is that I'm not getting any
errors when I try to change or save or remove password. Outlook accepts everything I do without any objections. Yet next time I start it it asks me for my original password. And this happens on both my partitions. Thanks, Peter On Mar 14, 3:02 pm, "Peter" wrote: Brian, I don't care, I just don't want to type it. I tried to remove it completely - didn't work. Brian, you mean - right-click on the file outook.pst (or whatever the file
name is) itself? There is no option to change password there under Advanced. Peter "Brian Tillman" wrote in message ... Peter wrote: Brian, I don't care, I just don't want to type it.
