cant connect to exchange server
Windows 2000 SP4 Outlook 2003
Cant connect to Exchange server I have a box that is not part of my employer's domain. When I fired up Outlook this week it has stopped being able to connect to the exchange server. It used to prompt me for authentication (username/password) but now it doesn't. The last email in Outlook on this system was Jan 4. When I tried blowing away my profile and set up a new one I get an immediate response about Outlook not being able to connect to the server. Someone told me that they remember something like this where Outlook is sending the authentication info when it shouldn't and there was some way to "reset" Outlook not to send the authentication info. Again, I've checked the "always prompt for pasword" in Outlook but it never does. |

Found the solution after many hours searching:
quote: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientPr otocols In all cases where this problem was occuring, I verified and found that either 1) the key was missing or 2) it was incorrect. The correct entries are as follows for ClientProtocols: ncacn_http REG_SZ rpcrt4.dll ncacn_ip_tcp REG_SZ rpcrt4.dll ncacn_nb_tcp REG_SZ rpcrt4.dll ncacn_np REG_SZ rpcrt4.dll ncacn_ip_udp REG_SZ rpcrt4.dll You might also want to verify and tweak (not as touchy as it was under Windows Messaging and all that nonsense years ago) the values and order of the rpc bindings under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Exc hangeProvider\Rpc_BindingĀ*_Order Rpc_Binding_Order REG_SZ ncalrpc,ncacn_ip_tcp,ncacn_spx,ncacn_np,netbios,nc acn_vns_spp Clyde wrote: Windows 2000 SP4 Outlook 2003 Cant connect to Exchange server I have a box that is not part of my employer's domain.
